The Kenya Pyrethrum Information Centre (KPIC) was established in 1973 by the Government of Kenya through the Pyrethrum Board of Kenya (PBK), now known as Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya (PPCK), as an overseas liaison office to support access to the European market. Since then, this collaboration has led to significant achievements, including the first inclusion of the active substance in European regulations in 2009 and the most recent submission of the dossier for the renewal of pyrethrins to EFSA on 22 August 2016, under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2008.
In 2019 the Kenya Pyrethrum Information Centre (KPIC) ceased operations.
Since then, the office's activities are conducted through two separated and independent EU legal entities:
(i) VDG Consulting International Lda. , Oporto, Portugal acting for the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya (PPCK), Nakuru, Kenya.
(ii) Kenya Pyrethrum Information Company GmbH & Co KG (KPIC), Neumünster, Germany acting for Nanbao, Yunnan, China.
